La empresa mexicana de telecomunicaciones Diri, que se destaca como operador móvil virtual (OMV), tiene planes de crecer en el mercado peruano luego de adquirir Flash Mobile Latam, una compañía que también ofrece servicios móviles bajo el mismo modelo de negocio.
Diri, que inició sus operaciones en Perú en octubre del 2023, cuenta con más de 100,000 clientes activos y espera llegar a 500,000 en los próximos dos años. Su propuesta se basa en ofrecer planes flexibles, sin contratos ni recargas obligatorias, y con beneficios por referir a otros usuarios.
Alejandro Corsi, CEO de Diri, mencionó que esta transacción les brindará la oportunidad de llevar innovación y tarifas asequibles a Perú y Colombia mediante eSIMs (tarjetas SIM virtuales) y planes telefónicos con excelente cobertura y servicio al cliente.
Los eSIMs ofrecen una solución digital avanzada sin las limitaciones físicas de las tarjetas SIM tradicionales. Corsi compartió esta información durante una entrevista con el Diario Expansión.
La adquisición de Flash Mobile fue llevada a cabo por ACN (All Communications Network), una de las principales empresas a nivel mundial en la venta directa de servicios de telecomunicaciones. Como parte de esta transacción, ACN se convirtió en inversor de Diri.
La compra de Flash Mobile Latam, que tiene presencia en Perú, Colombia y México, le permitirá a Diri ampliar su cobertura, mejorar su infraestructura y optimizar sus costos. Además, buscará aprovechar la experiencia y el conocimiento de Flash Mobile en el segmento de los OMV.
Los OMV son empresas que no cuentan con una red propia de telecomunicaciones, sino que alquilan la capacidad de otras operadoras para brindar servicios móviles a sus clientes. A diferencia del mercado en Perú, el crecimiento de los OMV en México ha sido significativo. En este país, la participación de mercado de los OMV aumentó del 1.9 % en 2020 al 5.1 % al cierre de 2021, llegando al 8.6 % en 2023. En contraste, en Perú, la participación combinada de estas empresas apenas alcanzaba el 0.27 % en marzo de 2023. En el mercado local, Flash Mobile obtuvo la autorización para operar como OMV en 2019.
